6 Action Figures Adults Can Relate To
January 28, 2010Action figures are really fun to play with when you’re younger, but when you grow up, somehow they seem less relatable. So, in an effort to bring back some action figures that adults can relate to, the funny folks at Holy Taco decided to create their own.
10 Lessons Leaders Can Learn from Conan o’Brien’s Goodbye Speech
January 26, 2010I’m still mourning the loss of Conan’s Tonight Show, so until he’s picked up by another network (and lots are comin’ a-courting, I hear) I guess I’ll just be watching a lot of old clips… and laughing. They are so FUNNY. My favorite, though, is his goodbye speech, which was just awesome on so many levels.

When I read Liz Strauss‘ article (Conan’s Good-bye: 10 of 10 in Leadership, Reputation, and Community), I figured out why I loved it so much. Here’s her breakdown, originally posted at Successful-Blog.com.

12 Über-Cool Umbrellas
January 20, 2010I have no idea what’s up with the weather. One minute it’s drizzly and grey, then temporarily torrential, then within the same hour — Sahara Desert. WTH?
Well, whatever the weather, it seems an umbrella is a smart accessory these days for women who refuse to get wet or ummm… wrinkly, as the case may be. Here are some really cool ones I wouldn’t mind carrying around:
1. The “Shit, It’s Raining” Umbrella
…because I rather enjoy stating the obvious. And cursing.
2. The Batbrella
Holy wow! If you don’t want one, there’s seriously something wrong with you. [Source]
3. The “F*** The Rain” Umbrella
Yeah, that’s right. I’m talkin’ to YOU, sky! [Source]

12 Funniest Fake Facebook Updates
January 18, 2010I love it when people pretend movie and TV characters are real — mostly because I’m pathetic, but also because - when done well - it can be really hilarious. My favorite applications of the “let’s pretend fictional characters are real” game are fake Facebook updates. They absolutely KILL me!
Here are 12 of the funniest fake FB updates I’ve seen so far…
Harry Potter and umm.. Edward?

The Saddest Poem in the World (That Women Secretly Wish Someone Would Write About Us)
January 6, 2010Watch, listen, read, and tell me I’m wrong.

Tonight I can write the saddest lines.
Write, for example,’The night is shattered
and the blue stars shiver in the distance.’
The night wind revolves in the sky and sings.
Tonight I can write the saddest lines.
I loved her, and sometimes she loved me too.
Through nights like this one I held her in my arms
I kissed her again and again under the endless sky.
She loved me sometimes, and I loved her too.
How could one not have loved her great still eyes?
Tonight I can write the saddest lines.
To think that I do not have her. To feel that I have lost her.
To hear the immense night, still more immense without her.
And the verse falls to the soul like dew to the pasture.
What does it matter that my love could not keep her?
The night is shattered and she is not with me.
This is all.
In the distance someone is singing. In the distance.
My soul is not satisfied that it has lost her.
My sight searches for her as though to go to her.
My heart looks for her, and she is not with me.
The same night whitening the same trees.
We of that time are no longer the same.
I no longer love her, that’s certain, but how I loved her.
My voice tried to find the wind to touch her hearing.
Another’s. She will be another’s. Like my kisses before.
Her voice. Her bright body. Her infinite eyes.
I no longer love her, that’s certain, but maybe I love her.
Love is so short, forgetting is so long.
Because through nights like this one I held her in my arms
my soul is not satisfied that it has lost her.
Though this be the last pain that she makes me suffer
and these the last verses that I write for her.

12 Thought-Provoking ‘Toons from Gaping Void
January 4, 2010I just recently discovered Gaping Void, and I seriously can’t believe I never knew it existed before! It’s AWESOME! Hugh Macleod’s “cartoons drawn on the back of business cards” are irreverent, quirky, witty and often quite wise — pretty much everything I love about… everything I love.
Here are 12 of my faves - go check out Hugh’s blog (and his gallery too) to see more.
