Bring on the Bling: 10 Crazy Expensive Office Items and Accessories

October 3, 2009

I’ve always been of the opinion that life’s greatest luxuries aren’t things… but sometimes it’s fun to take a peek at how outrageously silly the ultra-rich can be. Here are ten of the most ridiculously expensive things you could buy for your office if you had more money and less sense:

1. Luvaglio Laptop - US$1 Million
UK-based luxury goods creator Luvaglio recently created the first million-dollar laptop — details of which have not yet been released. What makes up the bulk of the hefty price tag however is a removable, very rare coloured diamond that acts as the power button when placed into the laptop.

2. Zeus Platinum PC - US$760,000
Tokyo-based Zeus Computer offers a line of luxury personal computers housed in bejeweled cases crafted from precious metals. The selection includes a pure platinum “Jupiter” model and a solid gold “Mars” model (US$570,000), which feature a blaze of inset diamonds patterned to look like the zodiac constellations and the Milky Way.

3. “Pat Says Now” Computer Mouse - US$20,400
The world’s most expensive computer mouse is cast from 18 carat white gold and set with 59 brilliant cut diamonds.

4. Mii Stor Diamond & Gold Flash Drive - US$19,000
Mii Stor’s 4GB flash drive is a Sandisk 4GB drive encased in 18k white gold studded with 96 white diamonds totalling 1.44ct.

5. GoldVish Le Million Phone - US$1.43 Million
The GoldVish Le Million, touted as most expensive phone in the world, is made out of 18k white gold and encrusted with 120 carats of VVS-1 grade diamonds. It was first revealed at the Millionaire Faire in Moscow.

6. Yalos Diamond LCD TV - US$130,000
An amalgamation of technology and design, the YALOS Diamond LCD TV is a sculpture of glass studded with 160 real diamonds worth 20 carats.

7. Diamond-encrusted iPod Shuffle - US$40,000
For 248,000 Norwegian Kroner (around $40,000) you can pick up a concentrated mix of gold, diamonds, and… iPod Shuffle. There’s not a lot more to this blinged-out bauble, so why anyone would want to place $40k worth of precious carbon on a $99 gadget, we’ll never really know.

8. DEOS Diamond Earphone Covers - US$80,000
DEOS Diamond earphone covers for the Apple iPod and iPhone are made of titanium and encrusted with coloured diamonds. Each piece is handcrafted and hand-set, and options include yellow, pink, cognac, white and black diamonds.

9. Aurora Diamante Fountain Pen - US$1.3 million
The Aurora Diamante fountain pen is covered with over 30 carats of De Beers diamonds on a solid platinum barrel.

10. Guerlain Diamond Studded Lipstick - US$62,000
If you’re thinking, “Hey… lipstick isn’t an office item or accessory!” — you’re probably male. Just shut up. It is. Trust me.
