10 Geektastic Spy Gadgets for Occasional Office Espionage
September 25, 2009I’m convinced that deep down inside, everyone wants to be a spy. Spies are just… sexy.
Chances are pretty high that you’ll never actually get to be a spy, but if you’d like to indulge the fantasy once in a while, here are some supercool spy tools you can play around with at the office.
1. Planon RC805 DocuPen Color Pen Scanner
This pocket-sized pen doubles as a covert high speed color scanner with up to 400dpi Resolution. It can store hundreds of pages worth of scans and comes with software so you can download the contents into your computer.
2. Disintegrating Spy Paper
Write a message on this pad to pass on to your contact. If you need to get rid of it in a hurry just put it in water (even saliva will do) and it becomes illegible mush. Definitely an essential tool for any operative.
3. Wrist Watch Walkie Talkies
Ok seriously - why use a cell phone when you can talk through your watches?? These wrist watch walkie-talkies give you 22 channels to choose from, they’re small, light-weight and easy to use, and allow you to keep both hands free while you talk to someone up to 1.5 miles away! They also have built-in voice activation so as soon as your voice reaches a preset volume level, the walkie-talkie will automatically transmit your voice to the other radio. Too awesome!
4. Lipstick Stun Gun
Modern chick powers - activate! This innocent-looking lipstick is actually a powerful rechargeable stun gun that can fire up to 350,000 volts. And if that isn’t cool enough to impress you, it also has a flashlight.
5. Agent M Digital Belt Camera
The perfect accessory for spies or umm…pervs, the Agent M belt has a hidden video camera built into the buckle.
6. The Spy Kite
Available only at Hammacher Schlemmer, the spy kite is equipped with a digital camera, enabling you to take aerial pictures from as high up as 80 feet. When your flights are complete, the camera connects to your computer running Windows XP or Vista via USB for image downloads.
7. Spy Camera Sunglasses
These camera sunglasses aren’t x-ray specs (awww shucks), but they do capture 1.3 megapixel still images at a resolution of 1280×1024. They also double as an MP3 player with built-in earbuds that can be hooked out of the way when not in use.
8. Hollow Spy Coins
These hollow spy coins are precision hand milled to create secret compartments inside. Store your secrets then pass them off to your undercover contact as pocket change… no one will be the wiser. Once closed, the spy coins are virtually impossible to distinguish from regular coins — unless, like me, you use a different currency.
9. Spy Keylogger
The spy keylogger is really useful for saving your own data, but if you’re evil (or nosy) you can use it to spy on other people as well. The logger monitors and records each keystroke and saves it into onboard memory. To read the contents, remove the logger and connect it to your own computer and keyboard. Typing in a password into any text-editor begins the memory-dump process.
10. Portable Privacy Audio Jammer
I’d really rather have the pen audio jammer that Spy Daddy used on Alias, but this is good enough. The Portable Privacy Audio Jammer protects sensitive conversations by generating a random masking sound which desensitizes any near-by microphones.
